For those who have been reading, I would like to thank you. For those who just started following or reading the blog, I would like to give you a little background on me as an educator. I am entering my 21st year as an educator, and during this time, I have tried to keep a history of my teaching, but for a number of reasons, it has not been a success. This year, I have a motivator – it will be an objective for my evaluation. This will not be anything fancy, just a collection of events and thoughts of my day. Also, this will not be proofread, so hopefully you will not judge, but rather have a better understanding of my journey as an educator and person.
So, I have posted an entry since 9.29.16 … that is a total of 12 days. I have been recording “bits and pieces” of my days thinking there would be time to go back and write, but that has not happened. The biggest problem is that it has been perfect weather outside, and as soon as it’s time to leave the building, I have been leaving the building. The fact is that teaching is a small part of my life, matter of fact, it has been falling behind a number of activities in my life. It’s not that my job is not important, but as my years in education increase, I understand the importance of being a away from work as well.
In most cases, WORK is a “use and abuse system” that people don’t completely comprehend until it’s too late. Don’t get me wrong, teaching is a rewarding profession, but in many cases, it’s a tough job and is under appreciated by many.
Okay, but to the topic, if there really is a topic …. I can’t keep up with posting everyday because of a variety of obstacles, such as the following:
…. thinking about my garden and getting it ready for the winter
…. thinking about riding my bike … buying new things for my bike … and my bike in general
….. creating a presentation for the annual state library conference
….. creating an activities for a faculty meeting
….. watching and keeping up with Google Classroom assignments, student videos, and student activities
….. meetings, meetings, meetings
….. causal conversations between colleges
….. cutting back berry bushes (I grow blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries)
….. did I mention who NICE it has been this FALL?!?!
So, I can’t keep up! Lots of topics are in the “saved” side of my DASHBOARD of WordPress, but they haven’t been completed. The goal is to start today, and then try to go back to the drafts to get them all out before the end of the month.
I will do better!
